Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a rotary compressor of which the life is prolonged and the vibration performance is improved by making either of a piston and a vane of a lightweight ceramic material superior in strength and wear resistance.
CONSTITUTION: The rotary compressing section of a rotary compressor is made by keeping the vane 9 slidably fitted in the groove 8 provided in the inner wall 3b of a cylinder, in contact with the piston 7 fitted in the eccentric section 6 of a crank shaft 5, to slide eccentrically on said inner wall 3b. Said piston 7 and vane 9 are moulded of a ceramic material having a lower specific gravity than metallic ones and a thermal expansion coefficient (linear) of 6 × 10-6 W 18 × 10-6/°C. Thereby, said rotary compressor can be reduced in weight to 27W56% of the conventional ones of the kind, and the vibration thereof can be decreased.
