Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the generating of the torsional strain, etc., and to reduce the working cost, at corrugating the metallic tube, by installing the special corrugating ring eccentrically against the metallic tube, and by rolling this ring around the outer surface of the metallic tube, and by moving the metallic tube in a specified distance.
CONSTITUTION: The corrugating ring 4, whose inner surface is provided with one pitch or more of forming ribs 41, is rotatably attached to the flyer 2 through the bearing 7 and the ring holder 3, eccentrically against the axial line of the metallic tube 10. The metallic tube 10 is guided to travel within the sleeve 5, the end edge of the forming rib 41 is located at the desired position in the tube 10, the motor 9 is started, and the tube 10 is moved in the axial direction corresponingly to the revolution of the ring 4, in a distance per unit time calculated separately depending on diameters of the tube 10 and the ring 4; all of these are the necessary conditions for operation. As a result, the ring 4 rolls around the outer surface of the tube 10, and correspondingly to this rolling work, the independent grooves are formed. Because the ring 4 rolls along the outer surface of the tube 10, the flexibility is excellent, the generation of flaws, etc., is prevented, the friction resistance is small, and the working force and the cost are reduced.
