Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent elution of heavy metals, etc. from fine powder, discharged from a process for cleaning iron making or incineration exhaust gas, by mixing the powder with a caking accelerator such as silicic acid as required followed by molding in the presence of a Ca component and treatment with steam in an autoclave.
CONSTITUTION: Fine powder discharged from an exhaust gas cleaning process is optionally mixed with a caking accelerator such as a siliceous substance, clay, an Al cpd. or waste contg. them followed by molding in the presence of above 10% as CaO of a Ca component such as slaked lime. The moldings are charged into an autoclave using steam as a medium and allowed to stand in the presence of pressurized steam at 600W1000°C or 1000W1400°C in a special case for about 5W60 min to be caked. Thus, the handleability of the powder is improved, the cakes can be used as aggregate, etc., and the burying land area can be reduced.
