Abstract

PURPOSE: Special composition CO removal catalyst is used at temperatures 16°C or higher in air passage of building conditioning air cleaner, thereby effecting lower temperature CO convertion to CO2 than that in conventional process to contribute to energy saving.
CONSTITUTION: Mixture by weight of active carbon powder: alumina cement: potassium carbonate=4:6:1 is blended with water, grained in 10 to 30 mesh size, and dried to form carrier body. To 10g of this carrier, a solution of 0.1N HCl 30ml containing palladium chloride 50mg, and chloroplatinic acid 79.6mg is added and reduced by adding hydrogenated sodium borate 0.247g. The product is filtered and dried by air to provide CO removing catalyst. This catalyst is active at temperatures of over 16°C, but below 16°C its CO2 convertion ratio decreases. However, the catalyst application temperature is lower than conventional, and contributes to energy saving by eliminating the need of heat in building air conditioning.
