Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve efficiency of pipe transporting operation, by detecting and computing the operating speed of screw conveyor each time a pipe is detected, such that the pipe is transported to a required position on the screw conveyor, and controlling the conveyor speed at an optimal value through acceleration or deceleration of the same.
CONSTITUTION: Arithmetic unit 21 is furnished with outputs of pipe deterctors 13, 14, output of screw position detecting means 11, output of means 16 for detecting the pipe speed at the outlet of finishing stand, output of means 18 for detecting the conveyor speed at its rear end portion, data indicating the distance from pipe detector 13 to pipe detector 14, data indicating the time required for the pipe to be transferred onto screw conveyor after it is kicked out, data indicating the length of pipe cut by hot saw, etc. These data are computed by the arithmetic unit 21, and on the basis of the results of this computation by unit 21, an driving output is given by motor dirving unit 22 with speed control means to drive screw-conveyor driving motor 10 according to the driving output.
