Abstract
PURPOSE: A thermosetting polyester powder coating composition for decorative application having improved storage stability, flow properties, curing characteristics, and a wide controlling range of baking, consisting of an air-drying polyester solid at room temperatures and a radical generator adsorbed on finely divided inorganic powder.
CONSTITUTION: A) 100 parts by wt. of an air drying polyester solid at room temperatures obtained from a polyfunctional carboxylic acid consisting of 30W95 mole % of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (derivative) having a carboxyl group on p- position and 70W5 mole % of an α, β-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid (derivative), a polyhydric alcohol, and an unsaturated alicyclic compound having an unsaturated group shown by the formula I or II providing air-drying properties is blended with B) 0.01W5 parts by wt. of a radical generator having temperatures to give a half life period of 1 minute of 130W300°C and a half life period of 10 hours of 70W200°C adsorbed on 0.1W10 parts by wt. of inorganic powder having particle diameters not more than 100 μ.
