Abstract
PURPOSE: The title composition usable for coating materials, particularly coating powder, having improved storage stability, film appearance, and curability, comprising a specific polyester having a small hydroxyl number, a blocked polyisocyanate, and a curing catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A composition prepared by kneading (I) 100 parts by wt. of an air-drying polyester having a hydroxyl number of 0.1W10, consisting mainly of (A) a polycarboxylic acid component, e.g. consisting of 30W95 mole % of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid having carboxyl groups at the p-positions, (B) a polyhydric alcohol component, preferably consisting of 15W95 mole % of neopentyl glycol, and (C) an unsaturated alicyclic monohydric alcohol and/or an unsaturated alicylic monocarboxylic acid, preferably having a tricyclodecene or norbornene ring, with (II) 0.1W40 parts by wt., preferably 1W15 parts by wt., of a belocked polyisocyanate, and (III) 0.01W10 parts by wt., preferably 0.05W5 parts by wt., of a curing catalyst, e.g. benzoyl peroxide.
