Abstract
PURPOSE: To accurately detect the slip quantity between a magnetic tape and a capstan by comparing the period of the capstan tacho pulses having been detected and the period of the data of a fixed density having been read.
CONSTITUTION: Tacho pulses of the period corresponding to the peripheral speed of a capstan are detected by a rotary disc 7 turning integrally with the capstan and a tacho pulse sensor 8 and the period of the tacho pulses is stored in a memory 22 via timing pulse generator 18, counter 19 and register 20. On the other hand, the data of a fixed density having been recorded in a magnetic tape 6 are read out by a read head 4 and the period of the data is stored in a memory 16 in a similar manner. The storage contents of these memories 16, 22 are read out in synchronization and are compared in a comparing arithmetic circuit 24. The circuit 24 in turns generates the differential signal of both inputs corresponding to the slip of the capstan and tape, whereby the accurate slip quantity is detected.
