Abstract
PURPOSE: To lessen the rotation queue of a recorder with endless tracks by providing track-coordinate indexes at random positions of respective tracks correspondingly.
CONSTITUTION: Sector counter 17 is provided which detects a sector position on a servo track, and index memory 18 has memory areas provided corresponding to read/write tracks and stores the content of counter 17 in individual memory areas in index write mode. In read/write access mode, a value read out from memory 18 is compared by comparator 19 with the content of counter 17 to generate a coincidence output as an index signal. As a result, the starting point of a track corresponding to one read/write track is detected. thus, track coordinate indexes can be provided at random positions corresponding to tracks and the rotation queue can be lessened.
