Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus for recovering matters floating on the water surface, in which upper and lower inclined elements arranged in parallel with each other and connected to a float located forwardly of the same in pivotally movable manner are provided in the ship body of a floating matter recovering ship, whereby it is enabled to efficiently recover oil floating on the sea surface while separating the same from water by means of said upper and lower inclined elements.
CONSTITUTION: At the central portion of a double-hull ship, there are provided an inclined element 5 having a substantially triangular cross section and a movable guide plate 7 disposed downwardly of the element 5 in parallel with each other. These two elements 5, 7 are connected (8) at their top ends to float 10 in pivotally movable manner, and rear portions of them are connected at 9 to the ship body also in pivotally movable manner. Therefore, inclined element 5 and guide plate 7 are moved pivoltally while keeping parallelism in the manner following the movement of float 10. As the ship body moves in the direction of arrow M, oil and water floating the water surface enter into the ship body. In particular, oil forming the upper layer of floating matters flows in inclined channel 11 along bottom plate 5a of element 5 while being subjected to rough granulation, and after passing through channel 11, oil is refloated and drawn up by pump 14. Water, on the other hand, is discharged to the outside from gates 15, 17 at the back of ship body.
