Abstract
PURPOSE: To recover a low quality heat energy, which is abandoned without an industrial utilization up to the present, as mechanical energy economically by the use of metal hydride.

At this time, when the valve 18A is opened to flow the fluid containing heat energy to be recovered from the heat system 2 to the jacket of reaction chamber 1A, the metal hydride in the chamber 1A absorbs heat energy of said fluid and is decomposed into hydrogen gas and metal. The hydrogen gas fills in the cylinder 7 and pushes up the piston 8 to turn the flywheel 10, resulting in a production of mechanical energy. On the other hand, the valve 19B has already been opened and metal is present in the reaction chamber 1B. When the hydrogen gas is introduced into the chamber 1B from the cylinder 7 by opening the valve 11B, it reacts on the metal, the piston is dropped.
