Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare high purity compressed hydrogen gas continuously, by introducing crude hydrogen gas containing impurities into a pressure vessel containing a heat exchanger for temperature control and charged with a metal capable of forming the metal hydride.
CONSTITUTION: A metal 6 capable of forming the metal hydride is charged in the pressure vessel 8, and the temperature in the vessel 8 is maintained with the heat exchanger 7 to the level corresponding to the pessure of the refined hydrogen gas. The valve 2 is opened while keeping the valve 4 to the closed state, and crude hydrogen gas containing impurities is introduced into the vessel 8 through the inlet 3 to convert the metal 6 to the metal hydride. After completion of hydrogenation of the metal, the refined hydrogen gas can be discharged continuously through the outlet 5 under a desired pressure by opening the valve 4.
