Abstract

PURPOSE: To give sensitive response of non-linear resistance value change with O2 density and enable characteristics to be maintained stably over a long priod of time by using the ceramic composition composed of the specific composite oxides.
CONSTITUTION: Two kinds of metal oxides or materials changeable to these components through firing, e.g., carbonates of corresponding metals are mixed at a specified molar ratio. The mixture is calcined at about 1200°C and is next insert- molded with two metal wires to become electrodes, after which it is fired at about 1300°C, whereby the ceramic composition composed of the composite oxides of the formula [A is Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba; B is Mo, Mo and Cr (here Cr is 20mole% or under of Mo); x:y is 5:4 to 1:2, z is atom number of 0 which saturates the valency of A and B]. If the oxide of Fe, Mn, Co, Ni or Si is contained at 10mole% or under to the component A as the third component, the stability is further improved.
