Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove the distortion from an overlay sheet and to prevent shrinking and warping, by passing the overlay sheet through a heating device and laminating it onto a base sheet while transferring it to pressure rollers under no tension. CONSTITUTION:The base sheet 2 is thermally rolled with the pressure rolls 8 and transferred to the pressure rollers 4. The overlay sheet 1 is transferred to the pressure rollers 4 via the constant rate feed rolls 3, the constant rate draw-off rolls 6 and the transfer conveyor 7. The rotation of the rolls 6 is slightly faster than that of the rolls 3 and the sheet 1 is tensioned. The sheet 1 is heated at the heating device 5 placed between the rolls 3 and 6, and sufficiently shrunk on the transfer conveyor 7 at a speed e.g. 3-6 % lower than that of the rolls 6. Thereafter the sheet 1 is laminated onto the base sheet 2 with the pressure rollers 4. The conveyor 7 having protrusions at regular intervals is effective.
