Abstract

PURPOSE: A mixture of a specific amount of TiO2 and one or more of oxides or sulfates of V, Cr, Mo, W, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Ce, and U is added with titania sol to be grained by rolling, thereby providing high-strength, impurity-free, spherical titanium oxide catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Spherical catalyst consisting of TiO2 equivalent to 50 atomic % of Ti or more and the balance being one or more of oxides or sulfates of the above metals is produced. Such composition is added with a bonding agent of titanium sol containing TiO2 equivalent to 1 to 50 wt% of Ti. The mixture is sprayed with water continuously and correspondingly to the material feed rate so that final water content is about 20 to 30 wt% and grained by rolling machine. The resultant spherical catalyst grains are fired at 600 to 750°C, thereby providing a high-strength catalyst suitable for denitrization as well as other purposes.
