Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an extremely high-quality impregnation type cathode by placing the emitter disk of nearly same size as the porous tungsten sintering substance of the thin plate type onto the sintering substance and then giving the emitter impregnation to the disk in a container.
CONSTITUTION: Thin plate type porous tungsten sintering substance 12 is formed from the rod-type porous tungsten sintering substance. Then the emitter powder and the binder are mixed up in a fixed amount and then rolled through rolling mill 41 to form emitter plate 42. Plate 42 is then blanked to emitter plate 43 of nearly same diameter as substance 12, and emitter disk 43 with the binder removed is put on thin plate 12 to undergo the emitter impregnation in container 30 via the hydrogen gas. In this way, an extremely high-quality impregnation type cathode can be obtained.
