Abstract
PURPOSE: To easily recover the catalytic activity of Pt or Pd catalyst poisoned with arsenic in petroleum fraction to the level of fresh catalyst by oxidizing the poisoned catalyst in a predetermined temp. range.
CONSTITUTION: For example, arsenic-contg. cracked gasoline is contacted to Pd/ Al2O3 catalyst and diolefin under hydrogenation conditions. When the catalyst is poisoned with arsenic and reduced in activity, it is regenerated as follows: oil contained in the catalyst of low activity is purged, and the catalyst is contacted to air at ordinary temp. W250°C. In case steam of 100W250°C is available, using the steam mixed with air as regenerating gas the catalyst can be regenerated in a very easy manner without requiring special facilities and means.
