Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure an accurate detection of the object position with no effect of the temperature by counting the ultrasonic reflected wave arrival time from the object which varies by the temperature via the natural frequency number of the ultrasonic oscillator which also varies by the temperature.
CONSTITUTION: The intermittent wave of the ultrasonic wave given from head 1 is sent out toward road surface 2. Then reflected wave arrival time t1 from surface 2 or reflected wave arrival time t2 from car 3 is decided by period Tg of the car detection gate provided between t1 and t2, thus detecting the presence or absence of the cars.
