Abstract

PURPOSE: To process sludge quickly and efficiently by effecting a freezing-and-melting process for the sludge loaded on an endless belt running through a freezing chamber and a melting chamber in spiral movement.
CONSTITUTION: An endless belt 3 is run through a freezing chamber 1 and a melting chamber 2 at the same curvature and pitch in spiral movement. A constant volume of sludge is fed on the belt 3 running continuously along idlers 131W133. The sludge on the belt 3 is freezed perfectly during running through the freezing chamber 1 cooled uniformly by a evaporator and a fan. The freezed sludge is melted perfectly during running through the melting chamber 2 heated uniformly by a compressor and a fan, after passing through a clearance chamber 15. Thereafter, the sludge is discharged out of the device at the location of the idler 132.
