Abstract

PURPOSE: To equalize the light distribution of a discharge lamp having a plurality of light emitting tubes connected electrically in parallel within an external tube by obliquely arranging the respective light emitting tubes to minimize the shaped interfering portion to each other.
CONSTITUTION: Two light emitting tubes 1a, 1b contained within an external tube 15 are so arranged as to obliquely crossing substantially at X shape, and are secured at the upper and lower retainers 4 to conductive supporting frame 5 connected by a leaf spring 10. One of the electrodes 2a, 2b of the tubes 1a, 1b is connected via lead wires 6, 8 to the frame 5, and the other electrodes 3a, 3b are connected via lead wire 7 to lead wire 9. The frame 5 and the wire 9 are connected to stem lead wires 11, 12 sealed at the stem 13. The inclining angle θ of the tubes 1a, 1b is 20 to 90° to thereby prevent adverse effect of light distribution due to shaded light emitting tube not yet energized from the energized tube.
