Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a commutator high in heat resistance and suitable for high speed rotation by fastening one of coils into a recess plastically deformed under external force to increase the coil residula stress after the end of an armature coil is inserted into the recess on an insertion groove of a commutator segment.
CONSTITUTION: The tip of an armature coil 4 wound around an armature iron core 3 is inserted into and fixed to a coil insertion hole 10 on a riser section of the commutator 2. A recess 12 is formed on the surface of the coil insertion hole with which an upper coil 4 is contacted. After inserted into the recess, preferably covering the entire circumference, plural coils are pressed with a punch 14 from above. A part of each upper armature coil is plastically deformed 4 so as to form extruded covex section 13 and then retained in the recess. Therefore, mechanical pressure force along can raise the internal pressure of the coil 4 enough to fasten thereof firmly to the commutator segment mechanically as well as electrically. Accordingly, a commutator high in heat resistance and suitable for high speed rotation can be obtained.
