Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Substituted-phenylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid ester of formula I [X, Y are H, halogen, methyl, lower alkoxyl, etc.; excepting X = Y = H, and the combination of H and Cl of p-position].
EXAMPLE: The compound of formula II.
USE: Insecticide effective to domestic vermins such as mosquito, fly, etc., and agricultural vermins such as grass moth, etc., and extremely low-toxic of fish and shellfish.
PROCESS: The compound I is prepared by reacting a carboxylic acid III or its reactive derivative with an alcohol of formula IV or its halide or sufloxylate in the presence of a dehydrating agent (e.g. dicyclohexylcarbodiimide, etc.) in an inert solvent such as acetonitrile, etc.
