Abstract
PURPOSE:To perponderantly heat the edge of the skelp on purpose to save the fuel, by giving the whirlpool of air to the gas burner for shortening the flame, and by setting the maximum temperature of the flame at the neighborhood of the tip of the burner. CONSTITUTION:While the skelp 4 passes through the continuous furnace 1, the both edges of the skelp 4 are heated by the gas burner 3. The plural pieces of the air swirlers 31 are attached to neighborhood of the tip of the burner 3, being spirally swirled along the direction of axis of the fuel gas pipe 32. The swirling angle of the swirler 31 is desirable to be 30-60 degrees. The flame by this burner is short, and its maximum temperature appears nearby the burner tip, so that both ends of the skelp 4 are preponderantly heated. As a result, by this method, the better energy saving can be contrived, as compared with the conventional method in which the middle part of the skelp is unnecessarily heated by the long flame.
