Abstract
PURPOSE: To save the consumption of heating fuel so as to be less than that of the conventional method, by heating the slab so as to compensate the temperature drop of the slab at the nose part of the heating furnace, and the temperature drop of the bottom part of the sabl in the rolling process.
CONSTITUTION: The slab 9 is charged from A of the pusher type five zoned heating furnace 1, for instance, and is passed through the preheating zone 4, the heating zone 7, the soaking zone 8; hereupon, burners 16, 17, are arranged in the nose part 13 between the heating zone 7 and the soaking zone 8. The top side of the slab 9 is placed as shwon by 14, and the bottom side as shwon by 15, and the slab 9 is moved from B in the arrowed direction. The angle of injection of burners 16, 17, are respectively 15°, and 30°, and besides, are directed downward about 6° inclining from the horizontal plane, as shown in the illustration. As a result, the injection from the burner 16 is directed against the bottom side 15 of the slab 9, and the injection from the burner 17 is directed against nearby the middle part of the slab 9. Therefore, the slab 9 is concentratedly heated up from the middle part to the bottom 15 by this composite heating. Hereby, the temperature of the bottom side 15 becomes 20W30°C higher than the top side 14, which compensates the local temperature drop at the bottom side 15 in the next rolling process.
