Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent resolution from lowring by making it possible to screen completely adjacent photo detectors from leaked light flux.
CONSTITUTION: Illumination light flux 11 illuminates transmitting original 1 by way of transparent substrate 5, the gap between luminous elements 6, transparent protective layer 8, and photoconductive layer 9. The light reflecting from illuminated transmitting original is diffused from transmitting original 1 in every direction, but almost all of it is acquired by near photodetectors 6 and then converted photoelectrically. Light flux larger in reflection angle among light flux radiated by diffusion propagates in photoconductive layer 9 toward adjacent photodetectors 6, but is total-reflected by groove 10 on its way. This results from the principle that when light propagetes from a medium (conductive layer) higher in refractive index to lower one (air), light flux forming an angle more than critical one is total-reflected. In this way, a photoconductive layer with a groove preventing the diffusion of light is provided in the middle between photodetectors and the transmitting original.
