PURPOSE: To improve illumination efficiency and make it possible to make a unit small-size and long-life by using an illumination light source where a Fresnel lens and a plate-shaped light source are combined.
CONSTITUTION: The luminous light flux of EL light source 13 is condensed by Fresnel lens 16, and this light flux is illuminated to original 2 through holding prism 14. The reflection light is led to image sensor 4 through fiber 5 and is subjected to photo electric conversion. Here, the effect of the Fresnel lens is as described below. However, when the Fresnel lens is used, the illumination range on the original can be condensed to approximately 2∼5mm, and the intensity of illumination on the original surface is improved three or more times as high as the conventional unit even if the transmission loss of the Fresnel lens is considered. Thus, the intensity of illumination is improved considerably, and illumination efficiency is enhanced.
