Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a foamed polyolefin sheet containing ultrafine bubbles comparable to the one prepared by a pressure foaming technique, by foaming a foamable polyolefin sheet containing specific crosslinking agent and a heat-decomposition type foaming agent under normal pressure after decomposing the major part of the crosslinking agent and crosslinking the resin. CONSTITUTION:A foamable sheet of polyolefin is prepared by extruding a polyolefin resin containing (A) an organic peroxide having a decomposition temp of >=175 deg.C with a half-life period of 1 min. as a crosslinking agent, (B) a quinone dioxime compound as crosslinking assistant, and (C) a heat-decomposing foaming agent having a decomposition temp. of >=200 deg.C, while preventing the decomposition of the crosslinking agent and the foaming agent. More than 50% of the organic peroxide is decomposed below the decomposition temp. of the foaming agent, and the polyolefin resin is crosslinked. The crosslinked sheet is foamed in a hot atomosphere to obtain the objective foam. EFFECT:Excellent heat resistance and mechanical properties.
