Abstract

PURPOSE: To have a casing provided with a temperature measuring member and heating device for measuring temperature of a cover gas reservoir to control the distribution of temperature therein so as to prevent the casing from abnormal thermal transformation.
CONSTITUTION: Distribution of temperature in a cover gas 14 reservior of a casing 2 is effected by heat conduction from liquid metal 13. In particular, uneven distribution of temperature is produced by local radiation in the fittings of inert gas supply pipe 6, overflow pipe 7, etc. However, since the temperature in each portion of the cover gas 14 reservoir of the casing 2 can be measured by a temperature measuring member 19 and each portion is heated by a heater 20 on the basis of the measurement result, the whole cover gas 14 reservoir of casing 2 have uniform distribution of temperature to prevent uneven thermal transformation and the misalignment of the casing 2 with the axis of drive shaft 18 and ensure normal operation of a pump 1.
