Abstract
PURPOSE: To obstruct the outflow and scattering of the molten steel flow into the lateral and obliquely forward directions, by blowing the gas for preventing the generation of fins, etc., against not only both sides of the surface to be blown with the scarfing oxygen, in the surface of the material to be worked, but also the obliquely forward portion.
CONSTITUTION: The gas is blown against both side portions FB, FB, of the surface FA to be blown, of the material Y to be worked, from the injector nozzles 13, 13, for the gas to prevent the generation of the first fin, etc.; hereby, the outflow of the scarfing gas stream A is obstructed; and the gas for preventing the generation of the second fin, etc., is blown from the injector nozzles 14, 14, against the obliquely forward portions FC, FC, of the surface FA to be blown; as a result, the scarfing oxygen stream A and the gas stream B for preventing the generation of the first fin, etc., are obstructed so as not to flow obliquely forward from the tip corners X3, X3, of the surface X to be worked by scarfing. The injection angle γ of injector nozzles 14, 14, is settled in a range 10W25 degrees, and the ratio (γ/α) of the angle γ against the injection angle α of the scarfing gas injector nozzle 12 is settled in a range 0.4W0.7.
