Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily remove slag without flawing rollers even when cutting a steel material at a high speed by scarfing and cutting slag stuck at a cutting position with high-temperature flame and jetted air from scarfing nozzles.
CONSTITUTION: Scarfing nozzles 3 are arranged on the reverse surface of steel material 4 having been cut and moved along its cut line. During this movement, fuel gas, such as propane gas and coke gas, and oxygen are supplied to nozzle 3 to blow high-temperature flame upon the lower end part of the cut surface of steel material 4 and an oxygen air current jetted from the flat jet groove 5 of the rectangular section scarfs and cuts slag flatly in parallel to steel material 4. Consequently, only the stuck slag is removed without exerting an evil influence upon the original shape of steel material 4 unlike the conventional method.
