Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit reliable bonding with a minimum required width without reducing the width of the lap by heating the overlap portion in press bonding after applying a laminated tape in the longitudinal direction.
CONSTITUTION: A laminated tape 2 comprises, for instance, an aluminum tape with one or both sides thereof covered with plastic layer. It is paid off from a supply bobbin 14 and supplied together with a cable core 1 to a forming tube 12a where it is longitudinally applied to the core 1. The lamination of the tape 2 and core 1 thus obtained is then supplied to a thermal press unit 16 disposed immediately after the former 12. The unit 16 includes a lower press plate 18 supporting the lower side of the core 1 and an upper heated press plate 20 urged against the upper side of the core. The press plate 18 is bolted to a bracket 24 secured to a base 22, and the heated press plate 20 is bolted to a heater holder 26. In this way, reliable bonding of the overlap section can be obtained.
