Abstract
PURPOSE: To recover methanol by supplying an aqueous solution of inorganic salt containing methanol, which is taken out of the bottom of the alcohol extraction tower, into the top of the alcohol distillation tower, without discharging the inorganic salt and dissolved acrylic acid.
CONSTITUTION: The distilled solution from the esterification vessel 3 is led into the condenser 23 and taken out through the line 7. The solution in the esterification vessel is led into the decanter 26 to take out the organic layer from the line 6. Both of them are supplied to the alcohol extraction tower 10 through the line 8. The liquid extracted with the aqueous solution of inorganic salt 9 is led into the first alcohol distillation tower 13 through the line 12, and water and an alcohol are supplied to the middle stages of the second alcohol distillation tower 16 through the tower top line 14 to take out the alcohol 22 from the tower top. The most amount of the aqueous solution of inorganic salt and of the unreacted acrylic acid which is dissolved in the extraction residue line 12, are recovered from the vessel of the tower 13 and taken out through the line 15 to be recycled. The unreacted acrylic acid and the organic solvent are recovered from the organic layer 11 of the extraction residue.
