Abstract
PURPOSE: To recover the titled compound and organic solvents from a reaction mixture containing the titled compound and an alkali metal formate, by extracting the mixture with an organic solvent which dissolves the titled compound, and then extracting the extraction residue with an aromatic hydrocarbon, thereby transferring the objective materials to the aqueous phase.
CONSTITUTION: The stock solution containing the titled substance and an alkali metal formate is supplied to a multistage continuous countercurrent extractor 11 through the pipe 1, and subjected to the countercurrent extraction with extraction solvent (extractant A), e.g. aliphatic alcohols, fed to the extractor through the pipe 2. The extracted liquid is supplied to the distillation column 13, the extractant A is recycled through the pipe 7, and the crude titled substance is obtained from the pipe 8. The extraction residue of the extractor 11 is transferred to the continuous countercurrent extractor 12, and extracted with an aromatic hydrocarbon (extractant B) fed through the pipe 3. The extracted liquid from the extractor 12 is introduced to the distillation column 14, the extractant B is recycled to the extractor 12 through the pipe 9, and the extractant A containing a small amount of the titled substance is added through the pipe 10 to the stock solution. The extraction residue composed mainly of the alkali metal formate and water is obtained through the pipe 6.
