Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit increasing mechanical strength, particularly tensile strength, decreasing the sectional area of electric wire, and reducing the weight of wire by providing a plastic-reinforced layer on the surface of wire conductor.
CONSTITUTION: All or part of the wire conductor 11 is covered with the plastic- reinforced layer 12, which is applied to strengthen the mechanical strength of the wire conductor 11, comprising an inorganic fiber, e.g., glass fibers or carbon flbers, or the like, the surface of which is coated or impregnated with a thermal setting resin in a semicured state, e.g., epoxy resin, polyester resin, etc., which are of a conductivity or of non-conductivity. Also, the outside circumference of the plastic- reinforced layer 12 is provided with the nonpermeable layer 14 and the insulating layer 15.
