Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the subject method and device wherein the set height of a pneumatic spring is varied at any desired time in correspondence to the variation in the load of the vehicle, whereby increment or decrement due to the variation in load is proportionally borne even in the coil spring.
CONSTITUTION: The pivoting fulcrum of a feed and exhaust arm of an automatic height adjusting valve 4 is raised or lowered with respect to the truck in accordance with the variation in an internal air pressure accompanying the variation in the load added to a pneumatic spring 3, whereby the horizontal balanced position of the feed and exhaust arm is lowered or raised and the height of the pneumatic spring 3 is varied in accordance with the variation of the load. An adjusting device 5 vertically connects an oil damper chamber 51 and a spring cylinder mechanism to form them in a unitary body, and a rod 53 is penetrated through the axial core of said adjusting device 5. The rod 53 is provided at its predetermined positions fixedly with a first piston 54 and a second piston 55, said second piston 55 being constantly energized upward by the reaction force of a spring 56. And the pistons being caused to descend by the introduction of the pressure into the pressure chamber 52. According to the above described construction, increment or decrement due to the variation can be born in the coil spring.
