Abstract

PURPOSE:To regulate the title amt. by spraying a non-oxidizing gas upon the dipped side of a strip steel sheet immediately after hot dipping, and applying ultrasonic vibration to the undipped side. CONSTITUTION:Gas wiping is carried out by spraying a pressurized gas of 500- 1000 deg.C and 1-10 kg/cm<2>, from holes 15 of spray nozzle 13, which is the same as a reducing gas consisting of H2, N2, etc. filled in the upper space of a one-side hot dipping apparatus. Ultrasonic vibration is applied to sheet 1 in the facial direction with ultrasonically vibrating rotary roll 17 placed in contact with the undipped side of sheet 1 at a position about equal to or slightly lower than that of nozzle 13 to facilitate scraping-away of metal adhered by hot dipping. By spraying a non- oxidizing gas from spray nozzles 20 placed at both ends of the undipped side, movement of molten metal to the undipped side is prevented. Roll 20 mainly vibrates in the axial direction with ultrasonic vibrator 12 attached to rotary shaft 18, yet it vibrates sheet 1 in the facial direction with a rectangular vector component contained.
