Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a beautiful metallic container having relief surface patterns, in high efficiency, by printing a desired pattern to the surface of a metal plate with a foamable ink, drying the ink at a temperature below the foaming temp. of the ink, forming the plate to a container, and finally heating the container above the foaming temp. of the ink.
CONSTITUTION: A desired pattern 2 is printed to the surface of a metallic thin plate 1 with a foamable ink which starts to foam at about 200°C, e.g. an ink containing a foamable material such as azodicarbonamide, dinitrosopentamethylenetetramine, oxybisbenzenesulfonyl semicarbazide, p-toluenesulfonyl semicarbazide, etc. A metallic can is formed by calking a metallic body 3 with a metal end plate 4, each made of the above metallic thin plate. The metallic can is heated above the foaming temp. of the ink, to obtain the objective metallic can having releaf surface pattern.
