Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the subject method of circulating water retained in the interior of a hydraulic machine at the time where the machine is at a stop, thereby to prevent corrosion and pitting corrosion of a soft steel material used in a hydraulic machine and brought into contact with water.
CONSTITUTION: In a hydraulic machine provided with an inner side back pressure chamber 8 and a outer side back pressure chamber 9 formed by a upper cover 2 and a runner 1, a side pressure chamber 10 formed by a lower cover 3 and the runner 1, a chamber 11 formed by a guide vane 4, a upper cover 2, a lower cover 3 and the runner 1, and a chamber 12 formed by the guide vane 4, upper cover 2, lower cover 3 and a stay ring 5, retained water within the above described chambers 8 through 12 is circulated by way of water take-in pipes 13a through 7a and water injection pipes 13b through 17b by means of circulating pumps 13 and 17. According to this method, even when retained water in respective chambers 8 through 12 contains a large quantity of dissolved oxygen at the time when the machine is at a stop, dissolved oxygen contributes to render the soft steel into a passive state because retained water is circulating, and therefore the generation of pit-like local corrosion can be prevented.
