Abstract

PURPOSE: In a heat exchanger using water as a cooling medium, to provide a route through which cooling water flows from other system than the ordinary system, thereby to prevent a large accident from occurring at the time of service interruption in the plant and to reduce the cost of installation.
CONSTITUTION: In the case where a condensing pump 3 has come to a stop, an auxiliary water supply pump 10 is actuated and change-over valves 24 through 27 are changed, whereby cooling water within a tank 9 is caused to flow through an emergency line 22 to an air extractor 4 and a gland steam condenser 2, threrby to maintain its heat exchanging function, and then exhausted through an emergency line 23 into a condenser 2. By these procedures, gland sealing of a main turbine 1 and a steam turbine 7 for driving the boiler feed water pump is maintained and vacuum of the condenser 2 is also maintained. Furthermore, the emergency line 23 is connected to the condenser 2, and cooling water supplied by circulating water pump 28 is heat-exchanged by steam flowing in through the main turbine 1 and an exhaust pipe 17 thereby to maintain the vacuum degree of the condenser 2.
