Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:N-(ω-substituted alkyl)imidazole of formula I (R is CONH2, NH2, OH, CN).
EXAMPLE: 1-(4-Hydroxbutyl)imidazole.
USE: Pharmaceutical effective to inhibit the biosynthesis of thromboxane A2. Remedy for diseases caused by thromboxane A2, (e.g. phlegmasia, pypertonia, thrombosis, cerebral hemorrhage, asthma, etc.).
PROCESS: The objective compound I wherein R is OH or CN, is prepared by reacting imidazole with a saturated fatty acid lower alkyl ester having terminal acid residue (e.g. halogen, etc.) to afford an intermediate compound II (R1 is lower alkyl), followed by reducing the intermediate, or halogenating and reacting with NaCN. The compound I wherein R is CONH2, or NH2 is prepared by the acid hydrolysis or the catalytic reduction of the compound wherein R is CN.
