Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify the operating structure of a transmission wherein a first and a second driven wheels which are driven at different rotational frequency by a single prime mover are attached to a single rotary shaft and selectively coupled thereto.
CONSTITUTION: Belts 6, 7 are installed between the output shaft 2 of the prime mover 1 and the first and the second driven wheels 4, 5 attached to the rotary shaft 3. The driven wheels 4, 5 are alternatively coupled to the rotary shaft 3 to revolve the rotary shaft 3 at either a high speed or a low speed. The first driven wheel 4 is attached to the rotary shaft 3 so that the wheel can race. The second driven wheel 5 consists of an inner and an outer wheel parts 8, 9 and a safety clutch 10 interposed between them. The transmission in shifted by an operating mechanism 17 including a shift fork 20 to a first state that a rod 12 is engaged with only the wheel part 8 or to a second state that the rod 12 is engaged with the wheel part 8 and the first wheel 4, thereby changing the speed.
