Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain guanidine (G) economically, by combining the separation step of G formed as a by-product, through an ion exchanger and various steps of purification, concentration, and drying with the urea preparation step organically.
CONSTITUTION: NH3 is reacted with CO2 at high temperature and pressure to prepare urea, and the liquor in the process is brought into contact with a cation exchanger. The adsorbed guanidine (G) is eluted with an acid, e.g. sulfuric acid, to give a solution containing a salt of G, from which acid radicals are removed by ion exchange, precipitation, or electrodialysis to form a solution containing G.
EFFECT: Inexpensive raw materials used, safe and free from explosion, and low cost.
