Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit protection of the final reduction gear and driven machine with such an arrangement as to cut off power transmission and also stop the final reduction gear with a limit switch when the torque acting upon a torque arm of the final reduction gear exceeds a preset value.
CONSTITUTION: Pawls 16 and 16', which have their stems 19 and 19' urged against end faces 20 and 20' of a torque arm 14 by tensile springs 18 and 18' so that they cannot be rotated outwards and can be rotatable only inwards, are mounted by pins 17 and 17' on the torque arm 14. A stopping mechanism having a roller 22, with which a stopper face 21 or 21' of either pawl is adapted to engage to stop the rotation of the torque arm 14, is provided at one end of a continuous lever 25 mounted by a pin 24 on a frame 23, and it presets a permissible torque acting upon the torque arm 14 with a compression spring 29. When a torque in excess of the preset value is applied, a limit switch 32 is operated to stop the final reduction gear.
