Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency by increasing the gap length between the stator core and the rotor core gradually from the central portion toward the pole end thereby uniforming the flux distribution and minimizing the rotor iron loss.
CONSTITUTION: In high speed, small capacity AC commutator motor, the gap length between the magnetic pole 11 of stator core 1 and the rotor core 3 is increased gradually from g1 to g2 such that the rotor diameter is approx. 45mm, central gap g1, the gap at the end of magnetic pole 11 is g2, average gap g0=(g1+ g2)×1/2=0.55∼0.75, and g=g1-g2=0.25∼0.45. Consequently the unbalance of flux distribution due to the armature reaction can be uniformed and the rotor iron loss is minimized resulting in the improvement of the efficiency.
