Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve both operational and starting characteristics for the subject rotor by a method wherein a cage-shaped conductor and a permanent magnet are arranged on the outer circumferential surface of a rotor core, and the ratio of the void length g1 of the rotor core and the stator core located between adjoining poles and the void length g2 of the rotor core and the stator core within a pole is set at g2/f1>1. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of permanent magnets 3 per pole are arranged on the outer circumferential surface of the rotor core 1 and the cage-shaped conductor 2 is arranged in the core section located between the permanent magnets 3. For the rotor core 1, when the void length between core section located between the adjoining poles (on q-axis) of the rotor and the stator core 7 is set at g1 and the void length between the core section located between the permanent magnets (on d-axis) in a pole and a stator core 7 is set at g2, the outside diameter of the core section on the d-axis is formed a little smaller than the outside diameter of the core section on the q-axis. Accordingly, the coefficient of utilization of magnetic flux can be improved because the leakage flux coming from the N pole and reaching the S pole is reduced without breaking the stator winding.
