Abstract

PURPOSE: To assure detection of an extraordinary condition of an air fuel ratio controller by constituting an emergency annunciator therefor such that an extraordinary condition is discriminated by coexistence of a first signal such as an exhaust gas density deviation signal, a second signal obtained from a running variable corresponding to the torque, and a third signal representative of the opening of a throttle valve whereupon a fourth signal is produced.
CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas density deviation signal S2 adapted for feedback control of air fuel ratio is transmitted to a discriminator circuit 12, which provides a first signal S14 when the deviation signal S2 is held deviated to high or low continuously for a predetermined period of time. Also, when a running variable signal S12 which corresponds to the torque is greater than a predetermined level, a second signal S15 is provided from a torque identifier 13, and when a throttle valve opening signal S13 represents a throttle valve is not fully open, a third signal S16 is provided from a throttle valve opening identifier 14. When there exist the first to third signal at the same time and the first signal indicates the deviation signal S2 is in an extraordinary condition, an extraordinary condition signal S17 is provided as a fourth signal from an extraordinary condition discriminator circuit 15 to activate an annunciator 17. The signals S17 is utilized also for stopping the feedback control.
