Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent occurence of hair cracks on a bloom, billet, etc. of a high Cr ferritic stainless steel by heat treating the bloom or billet. CONSTITUTION:An ingot of a high Cr ferritic stainless steel contg. Cr; 25-35 wt% and Mo; 0.5-5wt% is hot worked to obtain a billet, bloom, etc. The billet or bllom is soaked at 900-1200 deg.C for 5-60 min to relieve thermal stress formed by the hot working, and it is slowly cooled to 550-650 deg.C at a cooling rate of 3-0.1 deg.C/min and rapidly cooled to 425 deg.C at a cooling rate above 5 deg.C/min to prevent appearance of brittleness at 475 deg.C and to perfectly prevent occurence of hair cracks.
