Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a high arc resistance electrode material by mixing 0.5-5% by quantity of at least one selected out of the group consisting of Y, Zr, Ga, Mn, Zn and Sn in silver or copper graphite. CONSTITUTION:A high arc resistance, low consumption rate electrode material capable of high speed electrospark machining is obtained by mixing 5-30% by quantity of graphite powder and/or the tar which can be graphitized, 0.5-5% by quantity of the powder of at least one metal selected out of the group consisting of Y, Zr, Ga, Mn, Zn and Sn, and the remainder of Cu or Ag, and sintering thus- obtained mixture.
