Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible the measurement of dimensions of objects having fluctuations in distance by forming two-dimensional optical images on the target object, calculating the distance between the target object and the measuring apparatus from the video thereof and calculating the dimensions of the target object based on this distance.
CONSTITUTION: First angle scanning corresponding to the X direction is applied over the target object 1 by a first reflecting mirror 9 and the luminous flux thereof is next applied with second angle scanning in the W direction over the object 1 by a second reflecting mirror 11. This waveform is picked up by a camera 2 and is displayed in a monitor 5. Next, the distance B from the reflecting mirror 11 up to the object 1 is obtained by formula 1. Here, A is the constant determined by the constitution of the apparatus and X/V is measured from the monitor 5. Following to this, the demension W of the object is obtained by formula 2. Here, N denotes the number of the point (d) of intersections of the scanning image 13 and the centerline (e) of the image plane and β the vibrating angle of the reflecting mirror 9. These are operated by an arithmetic circuit 6.
