Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible the conventional installation method by means of an interposed layer made of a polyethylene oxide with a molecular weight of a specified value arranged on the steel core in such a manner that rain or the like is allowed to dissolve away thereof after installation of an aluminium wire-twisted ACSR thereon.
CONSTITUTION: An interposed layer 4 made of a polyethylene oxide with a molecular weight of 500,000 or less is provided on a steel core 2. Aluminium wire 1 are laid twisted on the layer whereby ACSR is installed in extension. Thereafter, the layer 4 is allowed to be dissolved and removed by rain or the like. The layer 4 is made by spirally winding a polyethylene oxide tape, for example, 1mm thick and 50mm wide, on the core 2. Polyethylene oxides whose molecular weights are less than 500,000 are resistant to deterioration or softening due to moisture in the atmosphere yet completely soluble in water. With such an arrangement, an electric cable serving as a perfect void type ACSR able to lay tension only on the core 2 after the work can installed by conventional methods.
